I love Panera Bread and I have used their delivery service many times. We learned today from the folks at Krebs on Security that their online records for their delivery customers, rewards members, and catering clients were “leaked”. When we use the term “leaked” it means that the company’s security measures were inadequate and left the data out in the open where it could be accessed by anyone relatively easily.
From the article (quoting): “Panerabread.com, the Web site for the American chain of bakery-cafe fast casual restaurants by the same name, leaked millions of customer records — including names, email and physical addresses, birthdays and the last four digits of the customer’s credit card number — for at least eight months before it was yanked offline earlier today, KrebsOnSecurity has learned.”
Not much you can do about this leak except to perhaps be ready for additional spam emails as I am sure the email addresses have made their way to the Saudi Princes out there needing to send you $1 billion in cash.
